Introduction

​Our association is committed to promoting the wellbeing and development of every child taking part in the activities offered as part of our projects in Luxembourg. We firmly believe that every child deserves a safe, respectful and supportive environment. This code of conduct sets out the appropriate interactions between adults (staff and volunteers) of the association and children during the organisation of these activities in Luxembourg, in order to ensure their protection.

Responsibilities of Adults in Charge

• To ensure the safety, well-being and personal development of children whilst organising activities.

• To supervise activities responsibly by maintaining a respectful and caring environment.

• To communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding the progress of activities and any relevant incidents.

 

Respectful and Caring Interactions

• Treat every child with respect, dignity and kindness, without discrimination or favouritism.

• Use appropriate, positive and constructive language suited to the child’s age.

• Encourage the expression of emotions whilst respecting each child’s personal boundaries.

 

Supervision and Monitoring

• Ensure adequate supervision by always maintaining a clear view of adult-child interactions.

• Avoid situations where children are left alone: prioritise open spaces or the presence of a third party.

• Physical contact must be appropriate, respectful and only when necessary (for example, to comfort a child in distress).

In the event of an illness or accident requiring hospitalisation:

• Contact the emergency services immediately.

• Inform the parents or legal guardians and the project manager without delay.

• Stay with the child until the parents or guardians arrive, ensuring their emotional well-being.

 

Responsible Communication

• Use official and transparent channels of communication.

• Do not exchange private messages with children on social media.

• All communication must be respectful and relevant to the association’s activities.

 

Confidentiality and Respect for Privacy

• Respect the confidentiality of children’s and their families’ personal information.

• Do not share photos or videos without written permission from parents or legal guardians.

 

Reporting Inappropriate Behaviour

• Any suspicion of abuse or inappropriate behaviour on the part of a member of the association must be reported immediately to the association’s management or via email towecare@cns-asbl.org .

• No acts of violence, intimidation or harassment will be tolerated.

 

Commitment and Responsibility

 

All adults (staff and volunteers) within the association who take part in activities for children in Luxembourg must read, understand and undertake to comply with this code of conduct. They will take part in training on child protection offered by Coopération NordSud or other training organisations. By adopting these guidelines, our association ensures that we create a safe environment where every child can thrive with confidence.
